Western Cape: A policeman from Parow SAPS acted swiftly to a panic alarm in Hofmeester Street, Parow Valley this afternoon. Upon approaching the specific premises he noticed a white Kia Rio motor vehicle in front of the house with a male person standing alongside it. There were also two men on the property, each carrying a flat screen television.
The member stopped his vehicle and approached the men, but upon noticing him the suspects loaded the television into the Kia in which all three men sped off. The police member pursued the vehicle and called for backup to which Parow and Bellville members responded.
The suspects abandoned the vehicle in Coronation Road, Ravensmead and fled on foot. Police members gave chase and arrested them shortly thereafter.
In the Kia police found four flat screen televisions and housebreaking implements which included crowbars, a pound hammer, screw drivers, a multitool knife and gloves.
The three men, aged between 20 to 22 years old from Delft, Kewtown and Khayelitsha respectively, are expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on charges of housebreaking on Thursday 16 August 2018.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula is well pleased by the members who stopped the three perpetrators in their tracks and carried out their mandate to ensure that the property of citizens is safe.
