Job Purpose:

The Western Cape Government is seeking to employ an individual to render financial accounting support service. The successful candidate must be client focused and service delivery orientated. This position is based in Cape Town.

Minimum Requirements:

• A Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) with Mathematics or Accounting as passed subjects.

Recommendation: None.

Key Performance Areas:

• Capture the following: o Entities and keep record thereof; o BAS and LOGIS payment; o Correction on journals; o NAPS and transfer payment on the Banking system; • Follow up and clear Asset and Liability accounts and report balances; • Manage and follow up on commitments, accruals and outstanding transactions on BAS; • Assist with monthly/year end closure books; • Manage petty cash and compile daily cash flow; • Follow up and maintain debt accounts as well as draft submissions for write off and bad debt; • Report on outstanding balances on a monthly basis.


• A good understanding of the following: o Financial functions, practices and collate financial statistics; o Public Service financial legislations, procedures and Treasury Regulations (PFMA, NTR, PTI and Departmental delegation and procedures); o Basic financial operating systems (BAS, LOGIS and PERSAL); • Communication (verbal and written) skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape; • Planning and organising skills; • Numerical skills; • Proven computer literacy in MS Office (Word and Excel); • Accuracy skills.

Remuneration: R 132 399 – R 155 961 per annum (Salary level 5).

Note on remuneration:
Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.

MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed.
Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
