A woman was killed and two others injured this morning after two light motor vehicle collided on the N2 south-bound in Umgabba, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find one light motor vehicle sitting in the emergency lane of the road while the second was found in the centre aisle.
While paramedics were inspecting the scene, they found the body of a woman in her 60s lying a few feet away from one of the light motor vehicles, motionless. On further assessment, paramedics found that she had sustained numerous, fatal injuries, when she was ejected from her vehicle.
Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the woman and she was declared dead by paramedics. A man and woman, both drivers of the light motor vehicles, were found to have sustained only moderate injuries.
Paramedics treated both patients and thereafter transported them to a private hospital for urgent treatment. Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the exact cause of the collision.
