A 28-year-old man was killed this morning after his vehicle crashed into a tree on the M1 Higginson Highway in Chatsworth, KwaZulu Natal. ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene and found the light motor vehicle crushed up against a large tree. The driver of the vehicle was found seated on the pavement.
Paramedics assessed the patient and found that he had sustained serious injuries to his chest and head and was in a critical condition. Paramedics treated the man and provided him with advanced life support interventions. He was thereafter loaded into an awaiting ER24 ambulance.
As paramedics loaded the patient into the ambulance, they found that the patient’s vital signs suddenly diminished. Paramedics immediately initiated CPR in an effort to regain his pulse.
Unfortunately, after 45 minutes, no vital signs returned and the patient was declared dead on scene. Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
